Restaurant POS from Point of Success has been selected by more than 4,000 restaurants as the foundation of their customer service and accounting system. Technicians at the Company evaluated a model from the PioneerPOS’ S-Line series of POS terminals for suitability for use with its software.

Point of Success reviews hardware to confirm that the system setup is straightforward, that the hardware uses current technology that supports Point of Success’ features, and offers performance characteristics required to make Point of Success responsive to user interaction.

Gary Tallman, a technical representative for Point of Success, said “The system has the memory and processing power to handle everything I threw at it. We support modern Windows-compatible point of sale peripherals and it had plenty of ports to connect other devices.” The unique benefit of this POS station is that for most users there isn’t anything else to connect. A touch screen, magnetic stripe reader and printer are all included in one compact package.

Point of Success restaurant software was set up on this system in its entirety and all aspects of the system were tested. Included in the review were order entry, ticket printing, payment tender, credit card processing and management functions.

Tallman continued: “The user guide and other reference materials are well organized, meaning I didn’t need call support to make it work. I’d recommend this system to any restaurant using Point of Success restaurant POS software.”

The tested system configuration included Windows 7 Professional, 15” touch screen, built-in Epson thermal printer, 1.9 GHz Celeron dual-core processor and 2 GB memory.

Question by Greatme: Please, how can my windows installer configure add and remove software?
I have just developed my first windows software and have also written its installer program, but I wish to know how I can get my installer program to configure Windows’ Add or Remove Program for my windows application. By the way can anyone tell me how I can use my own custom uninstaller rather the default one that exist in windows or comes with the installer.

There is free open source software which will create an installer for your applications setting everything you need.
Creating an installer is a very crude task but if you insist, to add it in the add and remove programs list you have to add a registry key, assuming you have programmed the installer yourself and not used other software.
The path of the registry where you have to add a key is

My Compuetr\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uinstall

Here you add you key which can be anything as long its unique.

The following are required
REG_SZ “DisplayName” specifies the name to be displayed
REG_SZ “UninstallString” path to the uninstaller of your program.

The rest are optional.

REG_SZ “Display Version” Version of program
REG_SZ “HelpLink” help url
REG_SZ “InstallLocation” path to install location
REG_SZ “Publisher” self explannetory
REG_DWORD “NoModify” experiment with this
REG_DWORD “NoRepair” experiment with this

You may also add
REG_SZ “DisplayIcon” I think if you specify .exe file it takes icon from resource. If this is not set the icon from the uninstaller is used.

Be sure to delete these keys when your program is uninstalled because unused keys slow down the registry and ultimately you computer.

Windows automatically creates this key. You must also delete it when you uninstall.

The key for your application will have the same name as the key that you made.

To make a custom uninstaller you just set UninstallString to the path of your custom uninstaller.
